The International seminar on Road Infrastructure Asset Management was held successfully

In the morning of September 26th, 2018, the international seminar titled “Road Infrastructure Asset Management” was held successfully at the University of Transport and Communications (UTC).

Attending the seminar were over 20 scientists, experts from Japanese agencies, universities and corporations including Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Japanese Society of Civil Engineering; Japan Road Contractor Association; Kyoto University and 7 corporations operating in the field of transport construction engineering, and more than 60 delegates from domestic agencies, corporations including Directorate for Roads of Vietnam; Institute of Transport Science and Technology; Hanoi Department of Transport; University of Transport Technology; Transport Engineering Design Inc.-TEDI; Construction and Commerce Development Company No.909 and University of Transport and Communications. The delegates attending the seminar expected to approach new technologies to improve the exploitation efficiency and minimize the maintenance cost of transport works.

This seminar was jointly organized by UTC, Kyoto University and Directorate for Roads of Vietnam. Delivering the opening speech, Vice Rector of UTC Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Viet emphasized “….The success of workshops/seminars and training courses held continuously during the past 13 years has confirmed the good cooperative relation between UTC and Kyoto University, in which the great contribution is of Prof. Kiyoshi Kobayashi who was honored to be awarded the Medal for the Cause of Education by Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training in 2013…”

This is the annual cooperative program between UTC and Kyoto University since 2005. Until now, over 20 workshops/seminars and training courses have been implemented, attracting about 1,500 participants and learners. Scientific issues addressed in the seminar about the technology for database collection, analysis, calculation and pointing out the most optimal repair and maintenance procedures, with the lowest cost, ensuring the efficient and sustainable exploitation have been attracting the attention of scientist around the world and Vietnam. It really brings the great benefits to the socio-economic development of each country.
