Ceremony to announce the decision on appointing the new UTC Rector

In the exciting atmosphere with full of flowers, a variety of guests and leaders of Central agencies and localities, universities, businesses and international organizations along with staffs, faculties, students and alumni attended to congratulate the new UTC Rector - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long. Attending the ceremony, there were also many Government Leaders such as Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Du - Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien - Vice Chairman of National Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Pham Manh Hung - Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen Hong Truong - Deputy Minister of Transport as well as hundreds of local leaders, departments, agencies, educational institutions and other organizations having the cooperation with the UTC.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Manh Hung - Deputy Minister of Education and Training on behalf of Ministry leaders gave grateful words to Prof. Dr. Tran Dac Su for having successfully completed his task in the position of UTC Rector in the past 11 years until Oct 31st 2016 and assigned the decision of the Minister of Education and Training on appointing Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long to become the new Rector continuing the term of 2013 - 2018, that took effect from November 1st 2016. On this occasion, Deputy Minister Pham Manh Hung said: "The term of 2013-2018 of the university takes place when the educational sector has been making movement towards a comprehensive renovation. I do expect that the new Rector will try to continue putting University of Transport and Communications to a higher level of development."

Speaking in the new assigned mission, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long expressed his great gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Training and all staffs, lecturers and students of the UTC for entrusting him with this responsibility. He also emphasized: "The greeting speech of Deputy Minister Pham Manh Hung is not only the direction but also the great encouragement for the university to become more solidary and to be determined to complete the task."

During over 70 years of establishment and development, the university has been always actively taking the lead in implementing the tasks and policies on education and training of the Party, State and Government as well as the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training. In the upcoming time, the university will consistently aim at becoming the leading university in Vietnam for training, scientific research and technology transfer in the field of transport in order to meet social demands and international standards.
