Delegation from Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation

In the morning of January 13th 2017, the delegation of senior leadership from Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) – Japan led by Mr. Kenji NISHIUMI along with 6 members of the delegation visited and worked with the university. Mr. Kenji NISHIUMI was appointed to be Chief Executive Officer since April 2016 in replacement for his predecessor Dr. Masanori KINOSHITA.

NSSMC is one of the leading corporations in the world in terms of technology for steel products. The relationship with close cooperation in the field of training, scientific research - technology transfer coordination, application of new technologies, organization of workshops and scientific majors, the establishment of scholarship fund for teachers and students studying at the UTC and going to Japan for over ten years, has brought the practical achievements for both parties.

During the meeting, the leaders of both Parties expressed their desire to continue to maintain and further develop the traditional relationship of cooperation between NSSMC and UTC. Leaders of the two parties agreed to have the next meeting to make specific plans for cooperation between the university and NSSMC as well as between UTC2 Company and the Nippon representative office in Vietnam. The two sides will sign the agreement to maintain a scholarship fund for students, establish collaborative research programs and promote project on constructing Vietnam - Japan friendship laboratory on steel and other materials placed in UTC sponsored by ODA capital of Japan.

On this occasion, Mr. NISHIUMI warmly congratulated Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long on his appointment of being the Rector of the University of Transport and Communications and once again pledged to promote cooperation between the two sides.
