Welcoming the official visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam from March 22 to March 24, 2018; in the witness of the Minister of Transport (MOT) of the S.R. Vietnam Nguyen Van The; the Vice Minister of Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of the S.R.Vietnam Pham Manh Hung and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) of Korea Kim Hyun-mee, the MOA Signing and Opening Ceremony of Vietnam-Korea Transport Infrastructure Cooperation Center between the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) and  the Korea Transport Institute took place at the UTC on March 22, 2018.

Transportation is one of the most important components of economic and social development. Recognizing the importance of the transport system, in recent years, Vietnam has developed a number of cooperation programs with developed countries in the field of investment in infrastructure and transport system. Among the partners investing in Vietnam, Korea has been one of the leading economic partners, especially in the field of infrastructure development; improving the level of technology, science and technology, etc.

In its development strategy, the UTC is towards the model of a multidisciplinary university of engineering, technology and economics; to become a core university training high-quality human resources in order to meet the demand of sustainable development of the national transport sector and the country; to be a prestigious scientific research center in the field of transport and some other fields; to be a reliable address for students, investors and the whole society. Therefore, besides the sustainable cooperation with the traditional partners such as Russia, France, Germany, Japan, China, etc., the University aims to strongly develop the cooperation with potential partners, especially Korea. Based on the MoU between UTC and KOTI signed in 2014 and some activities with Korean partners in 2017; at the same time, to promote the UTC’s advantages in the field of research, education and technology transfer, the establishment of the Vietnam-Korea Transport Infrastructure Cooperation Center is very important and necessary.

The Vietnam-Korea Transport Infrastructure Cooperation Center is a science and technology organization which aims to promote the international cooperation between the University of Transport and Communications and Korean partners in the field of education and training, scientific research, consultancy and technology transfer.

With the support of the Ministry of Transport of the S.R. Vietnam and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea; as a link between scientists, especially leading scientists in the transport sector of Vietnam and Korea, we hope that the Vietnam-Korea Transport Infrastructure Cooperation Center will be the basis for the next successful cooperation between the University of Transport and Communications and Korean partners.
