The University of Transport and Communications participated in the product exhibition and won many important awards at the final round of 2019 ministerial level students' scientific research

The “Students’ scientific research” prize is a national prize for students, which is organized every year by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. After many years of organization, the competition has become a useful, dynamic and intellectual playground for students. This award aims to encourage students to participate in scientific research, to boost their ability of logical thinking and creativity, and to form self-study and self-research capacity for students. It also encourages higher education institutions, organizations and  individuals to support students' scientific research activities, thus contributing to improving the quality of higher education institutions.

In 2019, the award attracted 419 topics chosen out of thousands of topics from 85 universities and academies around Vietnam. The preliminary round was conducted continuously from August to December 2019. On December 1, 2019, the “Students’ scientific research” exhibition and Awarding Ceremony took place at the National University of Civil Engineering, chaired by the Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc. There were 7 groups from the University of Transport and Communications participating in this event, including “Bricks for Pavement made from waste plastic bags” by a group of students led by Tran The Anh, Faculty of Civil Engineering under the instruction of Prof. Dr Pham Huy Khang; “Self-adjusting PID software for VTOL UAV device balance control” by a group led by Nguyen Nhat Anh, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Ngo Thanh Binh; "Hollow sand concrete using crushed sand" by a group led by Nguyen Thuc Anh, Faculty of International Education, supervised by Prof. Nguyen Thanh Sang, “Laser engraving cutting machine” by a group of students Do Ngoc Dai - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Nguyen Van Hao; "Smart system to detect dangerous situations in elderly people based on deep learning model" by a group of students led by Vu Quang Tuyen - Faculty of Information Technology under the supervision of Dr. Bui Ngoc Dung; "The technology of using Cerachip admixture directly increases the performance of hot asphalt concrete mixture" by a group of students led by Do Hoang Anh - Faculty of Civil Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. La Van Cham"; “A set of criteria for evaluating the quality of bus stops and shelters in Hanoi" by a group of students led by Nguyen Thi Mai - Department of Transport Economics under the supervision of Dr. Thach Minh Quan. The products are highly applicable and very specific to a multidisciplinary technical university and highly appreciated by the evaluation committee and visitors. In particular, all 7 product groups were selected by the Ministry to display at the plenary session. As a result, the University of Transport and Communications successfully won 04 ministerial-level awards, including 01 second prize, 01 third prize and 02 consolation prizes.
