UTC Delegation attended ASEM Conference in Hue City

The ASEM Conference on Innovative Education and Human Resource Building for Sustainable Development and Higher Education Exhibition in Hue attracted 180 national and international delegates from 53 ASEM member countries. The Secretary-General of ASEAN, the Deputy Minister for Education and Culture of Finland, the director of the UNESCO Office for Education in Asia and the Pacific, the representative of ASEM's Lifelong Learning Center, representative of Innovation and Start-up Forum also attended the conference. The conference also honorly welcomed the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and representatives of the provincial People's Committee and 18 rectors of leading universities in Vietnam.

In the openning speech for the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasized: "Education and training are one of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations and it is worth mentioning that in the remaining 16 objectives, we can see that they all somewhat relate to education and training. In the fully blossomed era of science and technology, education and training is the field creatingknowledgeable human resource that plays a decisive role in the development. That’s why innovative education and quality improvement of human resource are not onlyimportant but also urgent. "

The conference featured 17 speeches by Vietnamese and international speakers on national and international experiences on different topics: the role of education and human resources in the 21st century for sustainable development; Opportunities, challenges and roles of stakeholders; Practices and lessons in Asia and Europe; from Vision to Action to Enhance Asia-Europe Cooperation in Creative Education and Human Resource Building for SustainableDevelopment.

Speaking at the closing session, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha highly appreciated the participation and comments of the experts, and said that this is a clear demonstration of the ASEM members’ commitment for the innovative education and highly qualified human resources training in order to meet the international integration trend as well as the rapid development of digital technology, artificial intelligence and smart equipment.

 

Beside the conference, the Higher Education Exhibition was organized with the participation of more than 10 major universities in Vietnam. UTC’s exhibition booth has attracted many international and Vietnamese delegates. Visiting the exhibition booth of UTC, the Minister of Education and Training appreciated the full preparation of the University when attending the Education Exhibition. The Minister also highly appreciated that University of Transport and Communications has participated and accomplished education quality accreditation and recently audited 5 training programs. The Minister emphasized that this is the opportunity for the University of Transport and Communications to promote its image to society, learners, firstly to serve the entrance exam in 2017.
