Brief Overview:

The Faculty of Basic Sciences which was established in September 1969 has 08 sections including Analytic Mathematics, Algebra and Statistic Probability, Physics, Chemistry, Descriptive Geometry–Technical Drawing, Theoretical Mechanics, English, Russian-French. The faculty has about 110 staff including 105 lecturers (57 females). There are 10 excellent lecturers, 3 professors, 17 doctors and 32 masters.

The Faculty of Basic Sciences has the responsibility to train general subjects for full-time and part-time undergraduate students and postgraduate students of the whole university.

It manages the first year full-time and part-time students (about 5,000 students), supervises them to do scientific researches, selects and trains students to attend Olympiad competitions. In terms of scientific research, its lecturers have implemented many state-level, ministry-level, city-level and university-level research projects. The main research directions are: basic studies and application of basic studies to fields: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Education Science (research on curriculum and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching methods).

With its great achievements, the Faculty was awarded Third-rank Labor order and several awards of Ministry of Education and Training, provinces and transport sector. The faculty union was awarded Certificate of merits of Hanoi Labor Union; Youth union was also awarded Certificate of merits of superior unions.
