Faculty of Civil Engineering was officially established in November 1961.

Up to now, the whole Faculty has 12 departments (09 specialized departments; 03 basic science departments): 

• Department of Bridge Engineering and Underground Infrastructure;
• Department of Highway and Traffic Engineering;
• Department of Railway Engineering;
• Department of Highway and Airport Engineering;
• Department of Mechanics of Materials;
• Department of Geotechnics;
• Department of Structural Engineering;
• Department of Surveying;
• Department of Public Transport Works and Environmental Engineering;
• Department of Urban Transport and Marine-Coastal Engineering;
• Department of Informatics in Civil Engineering;
• Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology

Annually, Faculty of Civil Engineering manages about 5000 undergraduate students, 300 graduate students and 50 PhD students.

2. Achievements

The Faculty was awarded 01 second-class Labor Medal; 03 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 01 Emulation flag of the Ministry of Education and Training; 04 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education & Training and 01 Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Transport. The Faculty has been recognized as an excellent labor collective for more than 10 consecutive years (2008-2019), many Departments and individuals in the Faculty have been awarded noble awards from the Party and State as well as ministries.
