On September 8th 2003, the Minister of Education and Training approved of the foundation decision of the Faculty of Marxism and Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Ideology of UTC based on the Department of Marxism and Leninism. It was renamed Faculty of Political Theory on May 7th 2008 by the Rector of UTC.

Up to now, the whole Faculty has 03 departments:

• Department of Basic Principles of Marxism – Leninism
• Department of Ho Chi Minh Ideology
• Department of Revolutionary Orientation of the Vietnamese Communist Party
•  

The Faculty has a total of 28 staffs of which 27 are lecturers including 8 are doctors, 26 are masters and others. The faculty has a responsibility of lecturing all students in both campuses of UTC.

2. Achievements

Since its foundation, the faculty has well done all given tasks to contribute to the sustainable development of UTC. Besides lecturing the lecturers have successfully accomplished their scientific research. During time between 2006 and 2013 they had been success in implementing 10 ministry-level-scientific research projects and 19 university-level-sciencetific research projects as well as conducting other 170 student ones. Therefore a lot of honour awards have been granted to the faculty and its members for the achievements, such as:

 

• 01 Prime Minister’s certificate of merit
• 5 Minister of Education and Training’s certificate of merit
• 09 Vietnam national defence medals
• 15 medals for Education career
• 12 medals for Transport and Communication career.
