UTC team makes its mark at the final round of the Hanoi MCU-FPGA design competition 2026

Co-organized by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEEE) at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Willas Electronic Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Gowin Semiconductor, the Hanoi MCU-FPGA Design Competition 2026 serves as an intensive academic competition for students passionate about microcontrollers, FPGA, and embedded systems. 

The competition provides a platform for students to apply their academic knowledge to practical challenges while developing creative thinking, design skills, and engineering problem-solving capabilities.

In its inaugural year, the competition attracted 91 teams from nine universities and academies. Surpassing the qualification rounds, four teams from the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) successfully secured places in the Top 30, earning the opportunity to compete in the Final Round held on August 5, 2026, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Having four UTC teams reach the Final Round is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating the students’ commitment to learning, passion for research and innovation, and ability to apply academic   knowledge to practice. Facing demanding tasks requiring extensive knowledge, practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork, UTC’s teams demonstrated confidence, determination, and resilience throughout the competition.

In particular, Team I SÊ CAI delivered an outstanding performance, overcoming many strong competitors to secure a place in the Top 5 and advance to the competition’s final stage.

In the decisive round, the members of Team I SÊ CAI continued to demonstrate creativity, effective teamwork, and the strong foundation of knowledge accumulated developed through their studies and research. With their impressive efforts, Team I SÊ CAI won the Consolation Prize at the Hanoi MCU-FPGA Design Competition 2026.

The achievement of Team I SÊ CAI in particular and the 04 UTC teams in general, is a well-deserved recognition of the students’ thorough preparation, sustained efforts, and passion for scientific research. The results also highlight the effectiveness of UTC’s educational orientation, which integrates training with hands-on practice, scientific research, and innovation. 

Beyond being a competitive platform, the event provided UTC students with valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from other teams, tackle practical engineering challenges, and strengthen their professional capabilities in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, microcontrollers, FPGA, and embedded systems.
