From December 9-11, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Council of the University of Transport and Communications joined the working delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training led by Minister Nguyen Kim Son, to visit and work with leading technical universities in Beijing and Shanghai, People's Republic of China.  

Vietnam - China relations after more than 15 years since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2008 have made rapid progress. In recent years, Vietnam - China relations have developed to a new level. Leaders of the two Parties, two States and two Governments regularly meet and contact bilaterally and at multilateral forums in flexible forms. All areas of cooperation between the two countries have developed well. Education and training cooperation can be said to be an important highlight in the bilateral relationship, a very substantive area of ​​cooperation that is increasingly profound and has clear results. The trip led by Minister Nguyen Kim Son aims to further promote cooperation between the two Ministries of Education and between higher education institutions of the two countries.

During the business trip, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, in addition to participating in the working programs of Minister Nguyen Kim Son, also paid a working visit to Beijing Jiaotong University - one of the partners of the University of Transport and Communications in the field of urban railways and high-speed railways.

Participate in the working program of Minister Nguyen Kim Son:

+ Working at Peking University.

During the working program at Peking University, the Chairman of the Council of the University of Transport and Communications attended all 3 working sessions including the Vietnam - China Discussion on Higher Education Cooperation, working with the head of Peking University and meeting with Vietnamese students.

Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam - Nguyen Kim Son, Deputy Minister of Education of China - Ngo Nham, Vice President of Peking University - Phuong Phuong co-chaired the discussion. Attending the discussion were leaders of units under the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the Ministry of Education of China and leaders of a number of higher education institutions of the two countries.

According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, over the past time, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China has been continuously consolidated and developed. The recent high-level visits by the leaders of the two countries have affirmed a strong commitment to promoting comprehensive cooperation, especially in the field of education and training, marking important steps forward in enhancing the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

At the Seminar, representatives of higher education institutions from both sides discussed and exchanged on three topics: Digital technology promotes the development of higher education; talent training and scientific innovation contribute to socio-economic development; and language exchange strengthens cultural exchange relations.

Within the framework of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong - Chairman of the Council of the University of Transport and Communications and Prof. Dr. Cao Luong - Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University signed a strategic cooperation agreement between the two universities, focusing on cooperation in urban railways and high-speed railways, witnessed by Minister Nguyen Kim Son and Deputy Minister Ngo Nham.

After the discussion, Minister Nguyen Kim Son and leaders of Vietnamese higher education institutions had a working session with Mr. Hao Ping - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Peking University, a university in the top 20 universities in the world. The Minister suggested that Peking University pay attention to sharing and supporting Vietnamese universities in terms of experience in organization, management, development to become world-class universities, building key laboratories, nurturing talents, organizing training, scientific research, digital transformation and innovation, attracting international students to study...

+ Working at Tsinghua University

Welcoming and working with Minister Nguyen Kim Son and the delegation were Mr. Khuu Dung, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Tsinghua University, along with representatives of the Board of Directors and leaders of units of Tsinghua University.

At the meeting, the Minister proposed that Tsinghua University support training talents for Vietnam in areas where Tsinghua University has strengths and Vietnam is in great need of for the country's socio-economic development such as: Environmental Science, Road and Bridge Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics and Communications, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Biotechnology, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics..., while enhancing exchanges between experts, scientists and students of universities.

+ Working at Shanghai Jiaotong University

At the working session, Minister Nguyen Kim Son and Mr. Duong Chan Ban - Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiaotong University both commented that the Vietnam - China relationship has achieved many positive results, especially in higher education cooperation.

In addition to its tradition in the field of transportation, Shanghai Jiaotong University also has strengths in many other fields and professions, such as medicine, maritime, aerospace, educational technology, etc. As one of the universities with strengths in digitalization in education, the University is researching so that lecturers and students can apply AI in teaching and learning. On that basis, the Minister hopes and suggests that Shanghai Jiaotong University will strengthen cooperation with University of Transport and Communications in training and scientific research, especially high-speed railways and urban railways.

Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of the University of Transport and Communications thanked Minister Nguyen Kim Son for his attention and support, and the support of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. Talking with Mr. Duong Chan Ban, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong thanked Shanghai Jiao Tong University for previously training experts who have made many contributions to the field of transport for the University of Transport and Communications in particular and the transport sector of Vietnam in general. Currently, the University of Transport and Communications is receiving priority investment from the Government and Ministries, and is assigned the task of developing human resources in semiconductors, urban railways and high-speed railways. Therefore, the University will be proactive, active, and prioritize cooperation with China's leading educational institutions.

Visit and work with Beijing Jiaotong University - partner of University of Transport and Communications

During the meeting with President YU Zujun, the leaders of the two universities agreed that Beijing Jiaotong University would create conditions for and receive lecturers and students from Beijing Jiaotong University to study, intern, and conduct research, including both regular and short-term programs in the fields in which Beijing Jiaotong University has strengths, focusing on the fields of urban railways and high-speed railways. From the exchange of lecturers and students, the two universities promote cooperation through the implementation of research projects, joint publication of joint research works, organization of international conferences, etc.

During the working trip, the delegation of the University of Transport and Communications visited the Train Control System Testing Laboratory, the National Technical Research Center for Railway Traffic Control and Operation Systems, and the National Key Laboratory of Advanced Self-Propelled Trains.
