The Ceremony for conferring the titles of People's Teacher, Meritorious Teacher, and honoring outstanding educators and administrators in 2024

Two People's Teachers and four Meritorious Teachers from the University of Transport and Communications were honored during the Ceremony for conferring the titles of People's Teacher, Meritorious Teacher, and honoring outstanding educators and administrators in 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council presented flowers to congratulate two People’s Teacher and four Meritorious Teacher honorees from the university during the event.

On the morning of November 17, 2024, the Ceremony for conferring the titles of People's Teacher, Meritorious Teacher, and honoring outstanding educators and administrators in 2024 took place in Hanoi.

The ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Vietnam Education Union, in order to recognize the efforts, contributions, and outstanding achievements of exemplary educators and administrators. This recognition serves to inspire pride, enthusiasm, and determination among distinguished educators committed to nurturing talent and providing quality human resources for national development. It also enhances society's trust, respect, and appreciation for teachers and the education sector.

The Ministry of Education and Training, as the standing agency of the council for conferring the titles of People’s Teacher and Meritorious Teacher, received 1,225 nominations, including 24 for People’s Teacher and 1,201 for Meritorious Teacher in 2023. Among these, 33 nominees were from ethnic minority groups. Based on the evaluation, the President of Vietnam conferred the title of People’s Teacher to 21 educators and Meritorious Teacher to 1,167 educators.

In 2024, the MOET issued Decision No. 2040/QĐ-BGDĐT dated July 31, 2024 on establishing the selection criteria for "Outstanding Educators," with the process conducted biennially starting in 2024. A total of 252 nominations were submitted in 2024, and 251 educators were selected for their remarkable achievements in teaching, managing, and mentoring with dedication and professionalism. These individuals also actively participate in organizational and social activities, serve the community, or support the care and education of learners with special circumstances to help them overcome challenges in their studies. They contribute to building schools and classrooms, encouraging students from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend school and maintaining student attendance rates. These efforts help create positive and effective transformations within their institutions and have a widespread impact at the local or sector-wide level.
