According to statistics, there are more than 700 alumni of the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) currently working at Viettel Group. Supporting the University's plan on establishing the UTC Alumni Network, in the past time, the alumni of the University currently working at Viettel Group have compiled statistics and gathered staff who have studied at the university. On August 15, 2022, at the UTC, the representative of this alumni group donated the financial support for the UTC development fund and discuss with the university's leaders in order to promote the cooperation plan between the University of Transport and Communications and Viettel Group in general and the alumni in particular.

Receiving and working with alumni on the first day of the academic year 2022-2023, on the side of the University of Transport and Communications, there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long – President, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President and representatives of leaders of the following units: Department of International Cooperation and Development Studies, Student Affairs Department, Administration Department, Center for Information Technology Application and Faculty of Electrical - Electronic Engineering. On the side of the alumni group, there were former student Do Manh Hung - Chairman of Viettel Construction Joint Stock Corporation, former student Bui Trinh - General Director of Vietnam Digital Traffic Joint Stock Company, former student Tong My Hanh - Deputy Head of Investment Division of the Group's agency.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President briefly introduced the development of the University over the years, with significant contributions from generations of alumni and large enterprises at home and abroad. With Viettel Group in particular, in the past 3 years, the University has cooperated to implement the electronic payment service - Viettel money in collecting tuition fees from learners and paying scholarships and supports of the University to learners. Since 2010, Viettel has provided an upgraded and increased speed Internet line, up to now reaching 120 Mb/s. Since signing with Viettel Network Corporation in 2021 in cooperation on training and research, the two sides have coordinated to implement specific smart city projects. During the international accreditation of 03 training programs according to AUN-QA standards, Viettel Hanoi branch supported the University to install free 4G transmitters on the University’s campus to conduct livestream sessions.

Mr. Do Manh Hung – the representative of alumni who are working at Viettel Group both at home and abroad, high-tech research centers, etc… affirmed that the alumni have promoted their knowledge learning from the University contributes to raising the stature and position of the Group to what it is today. To show their gratitude to the teachers and the University, the alumni has donated 150,000,000 VND to the University development fund. This donation is the contribution of the whole alumni group. 

On behalf of the UTC, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long would like to thank the hearts and contributions of the alumni. On this occasion, the President wished the Viettel Group in general and the University's alumni in particular to grow more and more, and assigned tasks to functional units in the University to actively cooperate with units and individuals in Viettel Group to soon realize the discussions during the meeting.
