International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering 2024 (ICSCE 2024)
From October 23 to 25, the University of Transport and Communications organized the International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering 2024 (ICSCE 2024). This is a major international event, attracting the participation of leading experts and scientists from 13 countries and territories such as USA, Japan, China, France, Canada, Belgium, etc.
Delegates attending the Conference
The theme of the Conference focuses on global challenges in sustainable infrastructure development, especially in the field of high-speed railway.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long - President of the University affirmed that "The International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering” has become an important forum for the community of scientists in the field of civil engineering to discuss and exchange on important and urgent issues, attracting active participation from state management agencies, as well as domestic and foreign scientists.
In 2024, the theme of the Conference continues to develop the content raised in previous conferences, while expanding and deepening important issues that the scientific community and experts in the industry are particularly interested in. We hope that the Conference will bring a common voice, contributing to promoting sustainable development for the civil engineering industry not only in Vietnam but also in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long - President of the University delivered the opening speech at the Conference
The International Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering is held at the University of Transport and Communications every two years, starting from 2016. After 5 times of organization, the Conference has become a prestigious destination, attracting the attention of experts and the scientific community around the world.
This year's conference welcomed the enthusiastic participation of scientists from 13 countries with 9 keynote speakers and hundreds of scientific presentations. The topics focused on 10 core areas of the civil engineering industry.
In particular, presentations from world-leading professors provided important directions on issues such as sustainable development, high-speed railways, construction health monitoring, smart cities, green transportation, artificial intelligence applications in construction, digital twins, sustainable design and construction, new materials, geotechnics, hydraulic engineering and urban transport organization.
At the plenary session, many international professors and experts shared the latest research on issues that are attracting global attention, notably: Prof. Dr. Guido De Roeck (KU Leuven University, Belgium) with the report " Challenges in the design of high-speed railway bridges"; Prof. Dr. Said Easa (Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada) introduced " Innovative Technologies Driving the Future of Railway Engineering"; Prof. Dr. Nam Tran (Auburn University, USA) reported on " Paving the Way for Safe, Sustainable and Resilient Asphalt Pavements"; Prof. Dr. Miwa Tomio (Nagoya University, Japan) discussed " A Novel Approach to Estimate Trip Demand Considering Mobility Constraints: A Case Study in Mountainous Area of Japan ".
View of the Conference
In addition, the Conference also has contributions from many experts in other fields such as: Coastal construction, geotechnical engineering and transport infrastructure. These reports will provide a comprehensive view of the latest advances in research and sustainable development.
