University of Transport and Communications and 6 technical universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education and research in the field of high technology and signed a cooperation agreement with the People's Committee of Nghe An province.
On the morning of October 5, 2024, in Vinh city, Nghe An province, the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) and 6 Vietnamese technical universities including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology (Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City), University of Science and Technology (Da Nang University), Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, University of Mining and Geology, Thuy Loi University signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education and research in the field of high technology.

This is the 9th time that the UTC and 6 technical universities of Vietnam (G7 group) have signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Some of the main contents within this cooperation framework include:
1. Sharing experiences in education, research, technology transfer in high-tech fields;
2. Strengthening coordination in education, research, technology transfer in high-tech fields focusing on key science and technology sectors such as IT, Telecommunications, Automation Control, Manufacturing Technology, and sectors/fields serving green growth;
3. Organizing exchanges, building common mechanisms in training coordination in the fields of new materials, semiconductor materials, microelectronics, microchip design, urban railways, high-speed railways;
4. Building a digital transformation infrastructure network that allows the exchange of digital resources between universities such as information, libraries, digital learning materials, etc.;
5. Sharing experiences in university governance, governance strategies towards university autonomy, smart universities, digital universities;
6. Strengthening coordination in research and implementation of university governance models suitable to Vietnam's socio-economic conditions in general and to the conditions of each university in particular.
The signing ceremony is the basis for 7 universities to coordinate in implementing cooperation in training, scientific research - technology transfer in the high-tech field, meeting the urgent needs of today's society, enhancing the role of intellectuals, scientists, and lecturers of the G7 group in pioneering research, technology transfer and application of high-tech scientific products to serve the country in the new period.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 4, 2024, the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and the group of 07 universities held a signing ceremony of a cooperation memorandum.
Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Higher Education - Ministry of Education and Training, the Department of Finance - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, leaders of 07 technical universities. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Departments: Education and Training, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Science and Technology, Information and Communications.

Nghe An is a province with diverse and complex terrain. Every year, the province experiences many severe natural disasters, with frequent cold spells and heat waves; the rainy and stormy season has 2 to 3 storms and tropical depressions that directly affect it; there are about 15-20 floods, lightning, and hail; the average annual rainfall is from 1,800 to 2,000mm; there are many periods of rain causing flooding caused by storms and high pressure.
Within the memorandum of understanding, the province and the group of universities agreed on the cooperation goals to promote training activities, improve the quality of human resources, scientific research, technology transfer, build programs, projects, and policies to develop infrastructure to serve the socio-economic development strategy of Nghe An province.
The province shares the information related to the socio-economic situation, the needs of science, technology and innovation of the province; sends staff to participate in training courses to improve the quality of human resources in the training fields of the universities in the group. The province also supports the group of 07 universities in implementing technology transfer cooperation activities with enterprises in the province; arranges staff to participate in developing and coordinating the implementation of programs, projects, scientific research topics and technology transfer, developing infrastructure, building policies to serve the socio-economic development strategy; arranges appropriate funding sources for coordination of implementation.
The Group of 07 technical universities organizes training courses, human resource development such as short-term courses, second degrees, postgraduate degrees, conferences, seminars on new technologies in technical fields that are the strengths of the universities; Organizing training of high-quality human resources in areas of the province's needs, especially focusing on key science and technology sectors such as information technology, telecommunications electronics, automatic control, manufacturing technology and sectors/fields serving green growth; Proposing orders for research topics, scientific and technological tasks and potential projects to help the province solve major problems, as well as challenges arising from practice. Establishing inter-university, inter-disciplinary, inter-field expert groups to research and develop, propose and organize, support the implementation of strategic scientific and technology transfer tasks at the ministerial, state and provincial levels for the purpose of socio-economic development of the province, at the same time support the implementation and commercialization of research results generated from the state budget in the province; supporting investment promotion - international integration in science and technology, high-tech industry.
