On September 29, 2022, the delegation of the University of Transport and Communications participated in the Vietnam Higher Education Exhibition and the Forum to improve training quality in education cooperation between Vietnam and Laos organized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos at the National University of Laos. This is an important activity of the education sectors of the two countries to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Minister of Education and Sports of Laos – Phout Simmalabong and Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam – Nguyen Van Phuc visited the UTC’s booth.

The Exhibition and Forum gathered nearly 300 delegates who are educational managers, researchers and experts from more than 50 higher education institutions of Vietnam and Laos. The delegation of the University of Transport and Communications led by the Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, along with representatives of International Cooperation and Development Studies Department, Undergraduate Education Department and Student Affairs Department.

This event is an opportunity to promote and introduce the University's information and images to thousands of the 12th grade students in Vientiane in particular, and teachers and parents of Lao students in general. At the exhibition, the booth of the University of Transport and Communications has received the attention of Lao friends from the very beginning to the end of the program.

 

On the occasion of the business trip, the University visited and worked with two higher education institutions in Laos including Souphanouvong University and University of Engineering under the National University of Laos.

Souphanouvong University established in 2003 has more than 400 lecturers with training scale of 1,500 students. At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and agreed on sharing experiences in developing training programs, cooperation in education and research in the fields of engineering and logistics. Memorandum of Understanding between Vice President Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong and his counterpart - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vira Anolac signed at the end of the working session will create the basis for the implementation of specific cooperation activities in the future.

The University of Engineering under the National University of Laos has been a traditional partner of the University of Transport and Communications since the early 2000s. The two institutions have coordinated to develop and organize the implementation of many master's courses in Transport Construction Engineering for students studying at the University of Engineering. The UTC has sent many lecturers to Laos to support the University of Engineering in teaching, transferring documents and professional textbooks. Discussing during the meeting, Rector Khamphoui SOUTHISOMBATH and Vice President Nguyen Thanh Chuong reviewed the contents of cooperation, analyzed advantages and disadvantages in the new post-pandemic context, then proposed and agreed to promote the following activities on exchange of staff/lecturers participating in short-term courses, professional seminars; joint publication of research works; transferred to the University of Engineering the training program in railway engineering; advanced material technology,…
