Conference to Commend Outstanding Individuals and Units, University of Transport and Communications, 2020–2025

In the solemn and proud atmosphere as the entire nation looks toward the 80th Anniversary of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), on August 28, 2025, the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) ceremoniously held the Conference for Commending Advanced Models for the 2020–2025 Period.

Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoai Duc - Vice President, and nearly 200 other delegates.

Speaking at the conference's opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, the University President, affirmed that the Conference for Commending Advanced Models is an occasion to look back on a five-year journey full of effort and creativity, to honor exemplary collectives and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement, and to reaffirm the university’s strong determination to continue to rise in the new phase.

The 2020–2025 period marked a significant development for the University of Transport and Communications. With a spirit of solidarity, innovation, and breakthrough, the university achieved many commendable results in training, scientific research, technology transfer, and other areas. This has made a practical contribution to the cause of educational development and to the nation's progress.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung summarized the outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement and commendation work during the 2020–2025 period. He highlighted key achievements such as the "Good Teaching, Good Learning" Emulation Movement, Innovative Scientific Research, and "Good People, Good Deeds" examples.  

Regarding commendation work, the university has a number of outstanding achievements, including one First-Class Labor Medal for the university; one Third-Class Independence Medal and two Third-Class Labor Medals for individuals; one Government Emulation Flag; 20 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; two People's Teachers and six Excellent Teachers. At the Ministry and Industry Level, the university received 12 Ministry-level Emulation Flags; 90 Excellent Labor Collectives; 26 Ministry-level Emulation Fighters; and 240 Certificates of Merit for collectives and individuals. The Trade Union also received two Emulation Flags of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; three Certificates of Merit of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; and one Certificate of Merit of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Based on the lessons learned from the patriotic emulation movement during the 2020–2025 period, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung also laid out specific directions and tasks for the emulation work for the 2025–2030 period. The University of Transport and Communications is determined to continue leveraging the power of these patriotic emulation movements, creating a strong driving force for the entire university to excellently complete its assigned political tasks. With the honor of being one of the five key national universities in engineering and technology, the university is steadfast in its mission to "provide high-quality training, scientific research, and technology transfer in line with global integration trends, with a sense of social responsibility, and contributing to the sustainable development of the transport sector and the nation.".

In this new phase, the university is focused on building and developing a model of modern governance, a smart university, and digital transformation, in line with higher education institutions in the region and worldwide. The ultimate goal is to become a reputable and high-quality university ranked among the top 200–300 in Asia. The university will continue to contribute actively to the processes of digital and green transformation, and the development of the digital and knowledge economy of the capital and the entire country. Through these efforts, it will affirm its pioneering role in training high-quality human resources, closely linked to the nation's development requirements in the context of international integration.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung called on every staff member and student of the University of Transport and Communications to uphold the 80-year tradition of establishment and development. He urged them to actively participate in the emulation movement through practical and creative actions in their teaching, studying, scientific research, work, and community service. He emphasized: "Let every individual and every collective be a pioneer, helping to spread advanced models and create a vibrant, practical competitive atmosphere to celebrate the major events of both the university and the nation.".

The conference heard presentations from representatives of the commended collectives and individuals, who shared their practical experiences in management, teaching, research, and production.

In the joyous and enthusiastic atmosphere of the conference, the university announced commendations and awards for individuals and collectives who achieved outstanding results during the 2020–2025 period. In this round, 20 collectives and 55 individuals were honored for their outstanding achievements in the education sector's emulation movements during the 2020–2025 period.

The conference also unanimously approved the list of collectives and individuals to attend the 8th National Emulation Congress of the Education Sector in 2025.

The Conference for Commending Advanced Models for the 2020–2025 period of the University of Transport and Communications concluded successfully. This was an opportunity for all lecturers, staff, and students to look back on five years of determined effort and to receive deep encouragement and attention from the university's leadership. With a spirit of solidarity, innovation, and high determination, the entire community of staff and students will continue to strive to excellently complete their mission, affirming its position as a key national higher education institution in engineering and technology and making important contributions to the nation's sustainable development.
