President of the University of Transport and Communications Attends Vietnam–China Forum on Higher Education, Science and Technology, and Innovation Cooperation

As part of the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse, together with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, from April 14 - 17, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education of China jointly organized the Vietnam - China Forum on Higher Education, Science and Technology, and Innovation Cooperation on the afternoon of April 14 at Tsinghua University.

General Secretary and President To Lam attended the Forum and delivered a policy speech. The event brought together senior leaders from both countries, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, and more than 70 representatives from leading universities in Vietnam and China.

Representing the University of Transport and Communications, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, President of the University, attended the Forum and participated in the roundtable discussion session. At the event, President Hùng exchanged views on key cooperation orientations in high-quality human resource development and scientific research in the field of transportation, particularly railway development.

He also proposed the development of a joint institute/center cooperation model between the University and Chinese partners, with the aim of pooling resources to address major challenges and resolve practical bottlenecks facing the transportation sector.

Roundtable discussion session at the Forum

On the same day, as part of the working program in China, President Nguyen Van Hung led a delegation from the University of Transport and Communications, together with leaders from the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, to visit and work with Beijing Jiaotong University.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue effectively implementing the cooperation agreement signed in 2024, focusing on joint training programs, faculty and researcher exchanges, and the organization of specialized professional development courses.

Both sides also expressed their intention to expand cooperation under the “Three-Party Collaboration” model (University – Government – Enterprise), aiming to strengthen the connection between education and practical applications while promoting the commercialization of products and technologies in the field of advanced and modern railway systems.

The activities within the framework of the Forum and the working program at Beijing Jiaotong University have contributed to further strengthening cooperation among higher education institutions of Vietnam and China. They also reaffirmed the role, position, and reputation of the University of Transport and Communications in promoting collaboration in education, scientific research, and innovation between the two countries.
