University of Transport and Communications holds working session with China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation

On April 13, 2026, a delegation from the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) held a working session with the China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation (CRSC) in Beijing, China.

The UTC delegation was welcomed by Mr. Cao Jian, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Yang Donglin, General Manager of CRSC International Co., Ltd., along with senior executives and technical experts from the Corporation.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, President of the University of Transport and Communications, highly commended CRSC's position as one of the world's leading enterprises in railway signaling and train control systems. With more than 60 years of development, CRSC has established itself as a global leader in the design, construction, and operation of modern railway signaling and control systems. The Corporation has successfully developed and deployed a range of advanced technologies, including the Chinese Train Control System Level 3 (CTCS-3), Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Train Operation (ATO) systems, and intelligent railway traffic management and dispatching solutions.

As part of the visit, the UTC delegation toured several of CRSC's affiliated facilities, including:

  • The Urban Rail Transit Technology Company, where advanced metro train control and signaling systems are developed and implemented; 
  • The Intelligent Technology Development Company for the Low-Altitude Economy, a strategic emerging sector that China is actively promoting to support innovation in low-altitude airspace applications; 
  • The High-Speed Railway Laboratory and Testing Center, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for research, testing, verification, and evaluation of advanced railway technologies.

Through the discussions and site visits, the UTC delegation was particularly impressed by CRSC’s comprehensive development model, which covers the entire value chain from research, design, manufacturing, and system integration to deployment, operation, and maintenance. The Corporation’s involvement in numerous large-scale high-speed railway and urban rail transit projects in China and internationally demonstrates its outstanding technological capabilities and leading global position.

According to current planning, by 2035, the total length of urban railway networks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is expected to reach approximately 1,200 km. In addition, major projects such as the North–South high-speed railway and inter-regional railway lines will require advanced technologies in train control, signaling systems, and railway safety management.

The University of Transport and Communications is currently the only institution in Vietnam offering undergraduate training in railway signaling and information engineering, with a tradition dating back to 1968. In this context, leaders of both organizations discussed and agreed on orientations to promote cooperation in the coming period, focusing on several key areas, including:

  • Collaborating on the establishment of a key railway laboratory at the University of Transport and Communications; 
  • Strengthening expert exchanges, joint research activities, and technology transfer in railway signaling and control systems; 
  • Expanding cooperation in new projects, including the field of the low-altitude economy in major urban areas of Vietnam. 

The meeting took place in an open, practical, and effective atmosphere, creating numerous opportunities for concrete cooperation between the University of Transport and Communications and CRSC in the future. These collaborative efforts are expected to contribute to enhancing Vietnam’s capacity in railway education, research, and technology development.
