Right after the ABU Robocon organizers released the theme for the 2025 Robocon Innovation Contest (September 2024), Faculty of Electrical - Electronic Engineering promptly selected and recruited members, formed Robocon teams, and began developing design and construction plans for the robots.
On May 18, 2025, 2025 UTC Robocon Contest at the university level officially took place with the participation of six teams. The contest selected three teams – UTC-ĐKH 01 (First Prize), UTC-KTĐ 01 (Second Prize), and UTC-ĐKH 02 (Third Prize) – to represent the university at the National Round in Ninh Binh.
The official qualifying round took place on June 5–6, 2025, at the Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium. This round featured 62 Robocon teams from universities, academies, and colleges across the country. The organizers selected 32 best-performing teams to advance to the Final Round of 2025 Vietnam Robocon Innovation Contest. All three UTC Robocon teams successfully passed the qualifiers to reach the national finals.
In the final round, despite their best efforts and determination, all three teams were unable to overcome strong opponents and ended their journey at the group stage, concluding UTC’s participation in the 2025 Robocon competition.
Overview of the Robocon Contest Summary Program
At the summary session, the university commended, encouraged, and presented awards to the lecturers and students of the Robocon teams that participated in the Final Round of Vietnam Robocon Innovation Contest.
In the summary report, Faculty of Electrical - Electronic Engineering also discussed with the university the difficulties encountered during the implementation process, such as limited funding; inadequate facilities (workshop/lab) with insufficient workspace and no competition field for robot testing activities; students having to participate in Robocon while still keeping up with classroom studies, scientific research, and other extracurricular activities, resulting in limited time dedicated to Robocon activities; and a shortage of students with expertise in computer vision and AI in robotics…
The faculty also proposed that the university continues to maintain and provide annual support for Robocon activities, incorporating them into the academic year’s activity plan; establish a dedicated space for Robocon and other student research and academic activities; strengthen connections with enterprises for sponsorship or technical support; and coordinate the organization of seminars and workshops on Robocon and the application of new technologies (AI, machine vision, image processing, etc.).
