The 3rd International Workshop on Vehicle dynamics and control: Autonomous vehicles

On October 29, 2024, the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) in collaboration with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), the Hungarian Institute of Computer Science and Control (HUN-REN SZTAKI) successfully organized the 3rd International Conference on Vehicle dynamics and control: Autonomous vehicles with a focus on new technologies in Autonomous Vehicles.

In-depth scientific reports from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungarian Institute of Computer Science and Control, University of Transport and Communications, Thuy Loi University, Electric Power University, The University of Da Nang - University of Technology and Education mentioned issues on New Technology on autonomous vehicles; Methods of controlling the trajectory of autonomous vehicles in general and in emergency situations in particular (high speed of movement, sudden trajectory changes, etc.); new algorithms with great potential for autonomous technology such as sustainable control methods, reinforcement learning methods (a branch of artificial intelligence), methods of controlling autonomous vehicles simultaneously and separately, etc.

The workshop attracted the attention of lecturers from universities of science and technology in the northern region such as: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam Agricultural Academy, Thuy Loi University, Military Technical Academy, Hanoi University of Industry, Phenikaa University... In particular, there was the participation of Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nhung - former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh - former Vice President of the University of Transport and Communications, who studied at BME. The opinions exchanged and discussed between the reporters and guests opened up new ways of researching autonomous vehicles in the country.

At the workshop, Prof. Dr. Peter Gaspar - Academician of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Kálmán Kandó Doctoral School of BME, and Head of the System Control Laboratory of the HUN-REN SZTAKI Institute, introduced the experimental equipment for autonomous vehicles such as self-driving cars, AGVs, Drones... and especially the Zalazone car testing ground, and industrial partners accompanying the research process of the HUN-REN SZTAKI Institute.

After the workshop, the University of Transport and Communications, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and the Hungarian Institute of Computer Science and Control discussed and identified cooperation directions in training and in-depth scientific research to realize potential research results.
