International Conference on High-speed Railway Construction in Vietnam and Experiences of China
On January 9, University of Transport and Communications (UTC) in collaboration with Southwest Jiaotong University (China) organized the International Conference on High-speed Railway Construction in Vietnam and Experiences of China.
Overview of the Conference
The conference attracted the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education and Training, key enterprises in the railway sector in Vietnam: Vietnam Railways Corporation, Transport Engineering Design Corporation (TEDI), Southern Transport Engineering Design Corporation (TEDI SOUTH), Truong Son Construction Corporation - Army Corps 12, Thanh An Corporation (Army Corps 11), Thang Long Corporation, FECON Joint Stock Company, LIZEN Joint Stock Company, Construction Technology, Equipment and Inspection Consulting Joint Stock Company (CONINCO) and prestigious experts in the field of high-speed railways from China, the French Republic and Vietnam.
The conference is an important scientific and technological event, demonstrating the determination and commitment of the University of Transport and Communications - the leading university in the country in research, training and technology transfer in the railway sector in Vietnam. This is a step to realize the implementation of Resolution No. 178/NQ-CP dated October 31, 2023 of the Government and Conclusion No. 49-KL/TW dated February 28, 2023 of the Politburo on the orientation for the development of Vietnam's railway transport to 2030, with a vision to 2045. At the same time, it demonstrates the responsibility of domestic and foreign scientists in implementing the investment policy to build a 350 km/h high-speed railway line on the North-South axis approved by the 13th Party Central Committee in Resolution 55-NQ/TW dated September 20, 2024 and approved by the National Assembly on November 30, 2024.
The University of Transport and Communications is a traditional unit in training and research on transport; especially the only university that trains and researches all fields of the railway industry in Vietnam. In the recent period: implementing the Government's request on preparing human resources and grasping core technologies, the University of Transport and Communications has proactively established a Steering Committee, Advisory Board and Sub-Committee for Developing a Project on Developing Training Programs, Research and Technology Transfer in the Field of High-Speed Railways and Urban Railways; Analyze advanced training programs of China, Germany, France, Korea, Japan and combine with more than 60 years of experience in training, research and technology transfer in the railway sector in Vietnam to perfect existing railway training programs, and at the same time build and announce 5 new training programs for all fields of high-speed railway including: railway construction engineering, railway vehicles, electrical systems, signal information and transport exploitation. The University of Transport and Communications has also cooperated with Southwest Jiaotong University and Changchun Railway Company - China on building a research/training center and establishing a key railway laboratory at UTC.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - President of University of Transport and Communications gave a speech
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - President of the University of Transport and Communications emphasized that the aim is to summarize the successful lessons of China's high-speed railway system, thereby suggesting optimal technical solutions applicable to the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis, a key national project of Vietnam in the current period.
At the conference, core technical issues of high-speed railways such as: Experience in building a high-speed railway standard system in China; technical solutions in handling high-speed railway foundations in China and Europe; issues of selecting railway structures and vehicles, issues of train-rail contact; control-signal solutions, electrification in high-speed railways and other important scientific and technical issues were informed, exchanged frankly and responsibly, helping to clarify many modern, complex and interdisciplinary technical issues, helping to consolidate the scientific and technical foundation and take a solid step towards establishing a position of mastering the core technology of high-speed railways in Vietnam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.
Prof. Dr. Bui Tien Thanh - Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Transport and Communications presented the report on Main technical proposals for the North-South high-speed railway project
Before and after the conference, a short-term training course on high-speed railway design co-organized by the University of Transport and Communications and Southwest Jiaotong University attracted the participation of more than 100 engineers and researchers from universities and enterprises; providing useful knowledge on high-speed railway standards, foundation design, superstructure, high-speed railway bridges and tunnels according to Chinese and European standards, meeting the practical knowledge needs of the Vietnam Railway industry in the current period.
