On the morning of October 18, 2023 at the main campus of the University of Transport and Communications in Hanoi and October 20, 2023 at its Campus in Ho Chi Minh City, the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) coordinated with Bournemouth University (BU) to organize a short-term training course on Sustainable Development in Transportation.

This training course is within the framework of the SDG13 project "Developing a multi-media SDG13-Climate Action module to support a cross-university Community of Practice and capacity building in Education for Sustainable Development". The project is being jointly implemented by BU and UTC and funded by the British Council. The SDG 13 project aims to create a multi-media SDG13 – Climate Action module in English and Vietnamese to support a cross-sectorial community of practice and build institutional capacity for Education for Sustainable Development.
Delegates and lecturers attending the training course from the British Council were Ms. Tran Thi Hong Gam; from Bournemouth University were Dr. Gelareh Rushan – Director of the Center for Fusion Learning Innovation and Excellence; Dr. Milena Bobeva – Senior Principal Academic of Business School, Project Coordinator; PhD. Tuan Vu – Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance; Mr. Rama Permana – PhD researcher in sustainable travel; On the side of the University of Transport and Communications, there was MSc. Bui Thi Giang - Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Development Studies Department (ICDS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Minh - Deputy Director of ICDS, coordinator of UTC; project members, lecturers of UTC and other universities and especially more than 70 UTC students of the main campus in Hanoi and the Campus in HCM City.
Participating in the training course, students were introduced to an overview of the project, accessed the Impactful Five (i5) learning method, and listened to the experiences of lecturers in the process of participating in sustainable development activities.
The PRME program (i5 – Impactful Five characteristics including Joyful, Socially interactive, Actively engaging, Meaningful and Iterative) develops methods that combine cognitive skill set training with creative, emotional, social and physical skill set. The PRME (i5) program builds on existing knowledge and experience of 'playful learning' to integrate collaborative, social, meaningful, fun, iterative and participatory approaches to create the future leaders the world so desperately needs.
Through two training courses, many UTC students have become members of the Climate Fresk action group on climate change and have been issued a certificate of participation by Bournemouth University and University of Transport and Communications.
