University of Transport and Communications received and worked with the delegation of Southwest Jiaotong University - China

On the afternoon of October 9, 2024, at the University of Transport and Communications (UTC), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long - President of the University received a delegation from Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU - China) led by Mr. Ma Lei – Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office.

UTC and SWJTU are strategic partners of each other. After more than 20 years of cooperation, the two universities have achieved many achievements in education, scientific research, organization of seminars, publication of joint journals, translation of professional reference documents, etc. President Nguyen Ngoc Long sent his regards and invited the President of SWJTU to visit and work at the University of Transport, and assigned the International Cooperation Department of the two universities to be the focal point in implementing cooperation, especially in the field of urban railways and high-speed railways in the near future.

After the reception, the SWJTU delegation worked with representatives of departments and faculties of the University of Transport and Communications under the Chairman of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Vice President of the University. The meeting was also attended by representatives of several large enterprises, Ms. Han Nhu Quynh - Director of International Cooperation and Science and Technology Department (Vietnam Railways Corporation), Mr. Nguyen Viet Duan - Deputy Head of Military Department (Truong Son Construction Corporation), Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Northern Branch (Southern Transport Design Consulting Joint Stock Company - TEDI South).

The participants provided information on the capacity and needs for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of railways in general, urban railways and high-speed railways in particular. Based on the discussions and proposals of the members participating in the meeting, Vice President Nguyen Van Hung suggested that the International Cooperation Departments of the two universities coordinate and focus on developing cooperation in the field of urban railways and high-speed railways, specifically as follows:

• Coordinate with relevant units, propose to build a joint cooperation unit between the two universities to carry out training tasks, scientific research, and technology transfer.

• Propose to build a joint training program for regular training, short-term training in accordance with the development orientation of the country and the needs of enterprises.

• Coordinate to organize delegations to visit and learn from practical experiences, seminars on advanced technologies.

The meeting took place in an open and friendly spirit, promising many new cooperation opportunities between the two institutions.
